Founded in 1989 in Linz, MCE quickly developed into a leading systems provider for steel structures and plant engineering. MCE is launched

On the occasion of the restructuring of the nationalized Austrian industry, VOEST-ALPINE MCE is founded in Linz. Over the years, the company develops into an international systems provider for hydraulic machines, steel construction and mechanical and plant engineering, as well as a service company in the areas of industrial maintenance and personnel services.

Purchase of MCE Nyíregyháza in northeastern Hungary.

Purchase of MCE Slaný to the north-west of Prague in the Czech Republic.

Name change

The company’s name is changed to VA TECH VOEST MCE

Acquisition by Andlinger & Company. The group takes over the majority from VA TECH in the areas of plant engineering, industrial maintenance and personnel services.

In November, the holding is renamed to MCE AG. The companies MCE VOEST and MAB Anlagenbau Austria structure their business activities into the divisions of industrial technology, building technology, steel and & mechanical engineering and personnel services.

In December, the Andlinger Group takes over the remaining shares in MCE VOEST from VA TECH.

Bridge construction & structural steel plants

In May, MCE Stahl- und Maschinenbau GmbH & Co is founded, which specializes in the areas of bridge construction and structural steel plants.

MCE AG presents a new majority shareholder in April. Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) and its co-investment fund now own more than 75 percent of the business shares in MCE AG. The Andlinger Group continues to hold 25 percent.

Strong partners

In October, Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) and its co-investment fund become the sole investors in MCE AG.

Also in October, Bilfinger SE strengthens the industrial and power plant services with its takeover of MCE and allocates the company to the business segment of “industrial services”.

Construction

In January, MCE Stahl- und Maschinenbau GmbH & Co KG is allocated to the business segment of “construction”, thus becoming a subsidiary of Bilfinger Ingenieur GmbH.

December sees the renaming of MCE Stahl- und Maschinenbau GmbH & Co KG to Bilfinger MCE GmbH. It remains a subsidiary of Bilfinger Construction GmbH (formerly Bilfinger Berger Ingenieurbau GmbH).

In July, Bilfinger MCE GmbH is allocated to the division of industrial fabrication and installation.

Bilfinger MCE GmbH became part of the HABAU GROUP as of 26 April 2016, and has operated under the name of MCE GmbH ever since.
